Our journey North begins...
We depart Inverness and make our way to Rogie Falls
, it is a short walk to this impressive series of waterfalls on the Black Water. We continue west to Lochcarron, a stunning village in Wester Ross -undoubtedly one of the gems of the North Western Highlands of Scotland. Your journey continues with a dramatic climb over the Bealach nam Ba (the Pass of the Cattle, in Gaelic). The Pass is the third highest road in Britain and climbs to over 2,000 feet! You’ll stop at the summit for breathtaking views across to Raasay and the Isle of Skye before commencing the descent to Applecross Village. Applecross is a beautiful village situated on a sweeping bay. At Applecross
wildlife abounds, so nature lovers can look out for red deer, pine martens (one of the rarest of British mammals) and otters. From Applecross you’ll make your way along the banks of Loch Torridon to Shieldaig where you’ll make a further stop before travelling through the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve
. This is Britain’s first National Nature Reserve and home to ancient pine woods and soaring golden eagles. You’ll then travel onwards to Kinlochewe and Achnasheen
A day of history and Whisky...
We'll head further north then east to the Falls of Shin*
, our tour runs at the perfect time of year to spot salmon jumping, you can watch as they make the tricky journey upstream. We'll then visit Dunrobin Castle*
, the most northernly and largest in the northern Highands. You can tour the castle and gardens here and even watch a falconry show! Our final stop of the day before heading home, is Glenmorangie*
for a whisky tour and tasting. This distillery is
home to Scotland's tallest stills, specially designed for a smoother more complex whisky.
