Tour Description

Journey through history and visit a chapel, a castle and an abbey...

Head North to Fife...

This tour brings Scotland's medieval history to life, but we start with a more modern marvel, the Forth Railway Bridge. As we cross into Fife your guide will tell you about the heroes of Scotland's past who battled in this ancient kingdom.

Visit Dunfermline Abbey...

Your first stop is the town of Dunfermline. Walk down the beautiful Dunfermline Abbey*, and visit the Abbey Church. The nave is the final resting place of Robert the Bruce, who battled for Scotland's right to be a nation.

Explore Stirling Castle and the city...

Into Stirlingshire and we stop at the beautiful city of Stirling, site of the monument of Scottish hero William Wallace (whose life was dramatised in the film Braveheart). You'll have ample time to stroll through the beautiful and ancient streets that surround it. There is also the chance to explore the stunning castle*.

Visit the site of Scotland's greatest victory...

From Stirling, we head to Bannockburn, the battlefield where Robert the Bruce routed the English in 1314. Time permitting a stop to view the statue of Robert the Bruce on his horse.

Decode the mystery of Rosslyn Chapel...

The tour finishes with a historical mystery at Rosslyn Chapel*, made famous in Dan Brown's novel the Da Vinci Code. Is this the resting place of the Holy Grail? No one really knows, but you'll love the chapel and the beautiful walk you can take through Roslin Glen and the ruins of Rosslyn Castle

Tour Reviews

We enjoyed Mark as our very funny and knowledgeable guide/driver! The tour was perfectly paced for several places to visit and we had plenty of time and opportunities to explore on our own or enjoy specific tour guides.

We took this tour and had a fantastic time. There was plenty of time at the three main stops. The first stop was Dunfermline Abbey where King Robert the Bruce is buried. The next and longest stop was the magnificent Stirling Castle. We spent about three hours here and had plenty of time to see all of the Castle attractions and still eat lunch. The tapestries are amazing and must be viewed. The last stop was Rosslyn Chapel and if you have either read the Davinci Code book or saw the movie - you won’t be disappointed. The masonry work of the chapel has to be seen to be believed. Finally, our tour guide Garry was awesome with lots of historical facts sprinkled in with some Scottish humour.

This was the first time I have taken a tour like this, I am sorry it took me so long. The guide was great fun as well as knowledgeable. We had plenty of time at each stop so there was no need to rush. I learned a lot about Scotland's history.

The tours were amazing as I figured they were going to be, but the best part of all was our tour guide Fergus or Fergie as he asked us to call him. He was extremely knowledgeable about it all but was also able to answer all the varied questions we had about any topic whatsoever. Loved the time we spent.
