Dumferline was, unfortunately not open to go in but there was a free museum next door and we could walk around the abbey and the graveyard. About 45 minute stop. Driver mentioned opportunity to purchase takeaway lunch here. Had an unmentioned stop at Battle of Bannockburn site to see large statue of Robert the Bruce before proceeding to Stirling Castle for lunch (on your own) and castle tour. This was about a 3 hour stop. Rosslyn Chapel was stunning and an hour stop. At each stop there was a local guide, always knowledgeable. We had perfect sunny weather though windy and chilly. Bus was clean snd Steven A , our kilted driver/guide, was a personable and knowledgeable and a safe driver.
Fergus was excellent. I came down with a really bad case of food poisoning from the meal I had the night before and Fergus was consideration itself. He organised a taxi for us and was very kind. I took a couple of days to recover but no lasting ill effects. Please pass on our thanks.
Amazing tour!!! Our driver/tour guide - Rory - was very knowledgeable, and had a way of narrating the historical events that made you just want to listen!! We made stops for photo opportunities and had plenty of time at the Dunfermline Abbey, Stirling Castle and Rosslyn Chapel to enjoy the sights. We were also lucky enough to meet some great co-travelers and had the most amazing fun!! At the end of the day we honestly didn’t want the tour to end we were having so much fun. I’ve had two tours on a previous visit with Highland Experience Tours, and I booked this tour before even getting to Edinburgh. I would recommend them with my eyes closed!!! Keep it up, everyone!!
We were disappointed that the Abby was closed but the rest was great.
I’m disappointed we were not told nor given time to visit Rosslyne abbey the ruined part as this was open. It’s just seemed very very rushed
This is the spirit of Scotland in a nutshell - an easy introduction to our history, scenery and heritage. Due to closures, you will not be able to tour inside Glengoyne Distillery & Stirling Castle on this tour until further notice.
