We will depart from central Edinburgh (22 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh EH2 1AY) and begin the journey to Glenkinchie Distillery. As we leave the city centre, you will begin to see the landscape change. East Lothian, south east of Edinburgh city centre is known for its rolling green hills, fertile farmland, and quaint villages. The distillery itself is located in a tranquil rural setting offering a peaceful escape from the bustling city.
Surrounded by lush countryside, Glenkinchie is often referred to as the “Garden of Scotland,” with its rich agricultural land providing the ideal environment for growing barley, a key ingredient in whisky production. The region is dotted with charming villages and historical landmarks, adding to the scenic beauty and cultural richness of the area. Visitors to Glenkinchie can enjoy the serene ambiance of the distillery’s grounds, which feature beautifully landscaped gardens and well-preserved buildings that reflect the distillery’s long history.
No matter which distillery experience you choose, you will be warmly welcomed and introduced to the wonders of Glenkinchie Distillery by one of their knowledgeable and passionate guides. These guides are not only experts in whisky production but also enthusiastic storytellers who bring the rich history and craftsmanship of Glenkinchie to life.
We’ve designed the timings of this tour to give you time to visit the distillery shop and have lunch or more fantastic drinks before returning to Edinburgh.
